Your Responsibilities as a Director of Administration at UUTH

The Chief Medical Director holds the Director of Administration accountable for the day-to-day general administration of the hospital. The Director of Administration is the Chief Medical Director’s primary administrative advisor and the Secretary to the Board of Management. Additionally, the Director of Administration is responsible for:

1. Overseeing the administration department.
2. Participating in the formulation, execution, and review of policies as directed by the Chief Medical Director and the Board.
3. Coordinating the activities of support departments within the hospital.
4. Managing the correspondence of the Board and maintaining the hospital’s records.
5. Undertaking any other tasks assigned by the Board or the Chief Medical Director as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in either Humanities/Social Sciences or Hospital/Health Services Management from an accredited University or its equivalent.
  • They must have at least twenty (20) years of relevant post-qualification experience in a government organization.
  • Candidates should be in the Directorate Cadre within a government establishment. Possession of a Master’s Degree or any other related higher degree would be beneficial.
  • Being a Fellow or Associate of the Institute of Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN) or holding any other pertinent professional certification is an advantage.
  • Previous work experience in a hospital setting is also advantageous.
  • All necessary documentation must be included with the application.

Duration of employment

The Director of Administration will assume their position starting from the date of their appointment, regardless of any previous service in another public organization. However, this is subject to the condition that the officer has not reached the mandatory retirement age of sixty (60) years or completed thirty-five (35) years of service, whichever comes first. The terms and conditions of their appointment will be outlined in the appointment letter.
